The Bulldog, also known as the English Bulldog or British Bulldog, is a medium-sized breed that originated in England. Originally bred for bull-baiting, the modern Bulldog has been refined into a calm, affectionate, and dependable companion. The breed is known for its distinctive appearance—stocky build, loose skin, broad shoulders, and a short, pushed-in muzzle.
Today’s Bulldogs are typically docile, friendly, and loyal. While they retain a strong, muscular frame, selective breeding has shifted the temperament away from aggression. Bulldogs are devoted to their families and often form strong bonds with household members. They tend to be social with children, other dogs, and household pets when properly introduced.
The breed is notably home-oriented and may show reluctance to roam far without a familiar companion. Their calm disposition and relatively low exercise needs make them well-suited for both apartments and homes, provided they receive regular, moderate activity.
Bulldogs are quiet by nature and rarely bark without reason. Though known for certain breed-specific traits—such as snoring and occasional drooling—these vary by individual.

The English Bulldog is a waddle-powered sweetheart—less about fitness, more about feelings. Behind every snore is a dog that just wants to be loved (and fed).
